Planning
The Planning Department is responsible
for ordinance development
(i.e., residential development standards and sign code), urban growth
boundary review, transportation planning, annexations, comprehensive plan amendments,
subdivision review, land use permits and appeals, zone changes,
variances, planned
developments, land partitions, lot-line adjustments, street vacations,
historic review, site design reviews, home occupation permits,
non-conforming use, conditional uses, and temporary uses.
The essential duties of the Planning Department involve the review,
updating, integration and enforcement of the City's land use codes and
development plans. The Planning Department also analyzes and prepares
reports on various land use applications such as plan map amendments, plan
text amendments, variances, zoning subdivisions, conditional uses and site
plans.

Building
The Building Department performs residential
and commercial plans review,
site review, and inspections; issues building, fence, mailbox and sign
permits; answers code questions and code enforcement
(structural, mechanical, and plumbing); assists with ordinance enforcement
and community complaints.
All department functions enforce and are in
compliance with the State Building Codes.
