Building & Planning
The Community Development Department conducts the City's planning processes including permitting, and implementing its development plans and long-range planning goals. The Department includes the Planning and Building divisions. The Department also serves as staff to the Planning Commission.
Building Division
The Building Department performs residential and commercial plans review, site review, and inspections; issues building, fence, mailbox and sign permits; answers code questions and code enforcement (structural, mechanical and plumbing); assists with ordinance enforcement and community complaints. All department functions enforce and are in compliance with the State Building Codes.

How do I get an inspection?
The City of Lafayette contracts with the City of Newberg for all structural, plumbing and mechanical in-progress and final inspections. You may contact them at 503-554-7714 or on their website at www.ci.newberg.or.us to request an inspection. Inspections must be requested at least 24 hours prior to desired inspection date/time. Electrical inspections are processed by Yamhill County.
Planning Division
The Planning Division manages the City's Land Use processes and information. Land use functions include zoning, property division, and annexations, among other tasks.
