Lafayette’s If I Were Mayor Contest 2024

With such a strong turn out last year, we are excited to announce
Lafayette’s participation in all three age brackets for
The Oregon Mayor’s Association’s If I Were Mayor Contest-2024.

• Elementary School (grade 4-5) - Posters Contest (Max size 24x24 in)
• Middle School (grade 6-8) - Essay Contest (Word, PDF)
• High School (grades 9-12) - Digital Media Presentations (Videos only: MP4 or online video format such as YouTube type link)

A winner from each category will move on to the statewide OMA competition for a chance at winning $500!!!

Winners of our town level contest will be showered with all the pomp and circumstance Mayor Malcomson can round up, exact prizes TBD. Judging will be available online through the city website for the public at large to judge. Winners announced at the Awards Presentation Celebration.

Entries Due Feb 23^rd, 2024 at 5PM

How to enter:
Posters: Turn in to Lafayette City Hall
Essays/ Digital Presentations: Email to Mayor Malcomson at hmalcomson@ci.lafayette.or.us

Please include your student’s full name, Parent/Guardian’s full name, grade level and phone number. Submitting an entry gives permission for your student’s entry to be uploaded onto the City of Lafayette’s website. Students must reside in Lafayette, Oregon at the time of submission to enter. Winners will be required to fill out the state contest form for entry.

Online Judging open from Feb 27^th-March 5^th 2024

as we celebrate and honor all entries and the winners moving on to the state competition
