Russ was born and raised in Anacortes, Washington, a small town. Moved to the Portland /Gresham area, a big city, and in 1990 with his wife Jan and two children moved to Newberg, back to a small town, at the time. Then in 2005 moved to the beautiful community of Lafayette. He is a small-town boy at heart. Arriving in Lafayette, he continued as an active member of his church where he has volunteered for many positions and was involved with almost all age groups there. Upon settling in his new neighborhood, he almost immediately became part of the neighborhood association and, for 10 years, served in all positions, at one time or another, on the board where he made many friendships that have lasted even today.
Russ is a blue-collar working man who worked in the warehousing industry for 44 years. 31 with GI Joes and 13 with Georgia Pacific. Just a regular working person like most of us in Lafayette. He retired in 2022. Russ’ life experiences as a husband, [married Jan in 1981], father, son, brother, and grandfather, have given him a mind that is full of common sense and logic. His experience working alongside people has brought out in him a personality that can see issues from both sides and a willingness to seek a reasonable resolution.
Jan and I love living in Lafayette and being part of this community. Our daughter and her husband live here with our five grandchildren. They range in age from a senior at Mac High to a kindergartener at Wascher Elementary. I am so proud of them all. My goal is to be a positive influence on the city council and an asset to the citizens of our city.
Councilor Burrows' unexpired term ends December 31, 2024.
